What is a DLF event

The Digital Leadership Forum is a membership community of innovative digital leaders from world leading brands. Each month we host interactive knowledge-sharing sessions for our members where you can share experiences and gain fresh insights to drive your digital transformation strategies.

What happened at the event

In August 2020, members of the Digital Leadership forum met over Zoom for the third AI Academy session, ‘The ethics and legal considerations of AI’ in collaboration with Intel®.

Representatives from leading organisations including Lloyds Banking Group, Unilever, Dell Technologies, AstraZeneca, BT, Intel, Highways England, Chaucer, Pinsent Masons, Legal and General, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, International Compliance Association, Schroders Investment Management, SGS, Signify Group and more joined the Digital Leadership Forum to explore the key ethical and legal considerations around AI. Here are the key takeaways:

  • What is ethical is dynamic – it is society that decides
  • There is still a long way to go to devise common standards around ethics
  • Ethical issues in AI are not fundamentally different from general ethical issues, but without suitable oversight they can take away ‘human predictability’ from decision making

By the end of this session, attendees gained key insights in order to begin to draft the ethical principles that organisations should instill for its AI applications.
